Privacy Policy

This policy covers Vigilant Technology — this website and every app listed below. Most of our apps keep your data on your device and collect nothing at all. Where that is not true, we say so plainly and tell you exactly what leaves your phone.

1.Who we are

Vigilant Technology is a trading name of Vigilant Technology LLC, which owns and operates every app described in this policy and is the party responsible for the information covered here.

2.What we collect

What we collect depends entirely on which app you use. Several of our apps have no accounts and no servers — they collect nothing, and everything they create stays on your device. Section 6 breaks this down app by app. Across the portfolio, the categories are:

  • Contact and account information. Your email address, and a password where an app has accounts. Given by you when you create an account, subscribe, or write to us.
  • Purchase information. Whether a subscription or purchase succeeded, and what plan you are on. Payment card details go directly to the payment processor or to Apple — we never see or store them.
  • App activity and diagnostics. Crash reports, performance data, and basic device information such as OS version and device model, used to keep the apps working.
  • Content the app works with. Recordings, screen frames, location, or measurements, depending on the app. In almost every case this is processed on your device and never transmitted.
  • Messages you send us. Support emails and anything you include in them.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising or behavioral ad tracking in any of our apps.

3.How we use it

  • To provide the app or feature you asked for.
  • To create and manage your account, and to process subscriptions.
  • To answer your support messages.
  • To fix crashes, diagnose problems, and improve the apps.
  • To tell you about our other apps — see sections 4 and 5, which explain this in full and how to stop it.
  • To meet legal obligations and to protect against fraud and abuse.

4.Sharing between our apps

Please read this section carefully — it is the one thing in this policy people are most likely to find unexpected. Vigilant Technology LLC owns all of the apps listed here. We treat your contact details as belonging to the company rather than to a single app. If you give us your email address in one app, we may use it to tell you about our other apps.

There are firm limits on this, and they matter more than the permission itself:

  • Only contact details move. Your email address and basic account details. Nothing else.
  • Activity and content never move. What you record, capture, block, measure, or drive stays with the app that created it. We do not combine your activity across apps, and we do not build a cross-app profile of you.
  • Sensitive use is never a targeting signal. Some of our apps are used for private and personal reasons. We never use the fact that you use a particular app to decide what to send you about another one, and we never disclose to anyone that you use a given app.
  • Nothing goes to other companies for their own marketing. This sharing happens strictly within apps that we own. We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address to anyone else.
  • It changes nothing about the app you signed up for. Opting out of email has no effect on the app itself or on any subscription you hold.

5.Marketing email and how to stop it

Every marketing email we send carries a working unsubscribe link and our postal address. One click stops all marketing email from Vigilant Technology LLC, across every app — you do not have to unsubscribe app by app. We act on it promptly, and in any case within the ten days US law allows.

You can also email support@vigilantproject.com and ask us to stop, and we will.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service messages — receipts, security notices, password resets, and messages about your subscription. Those are part of the product, and you keep getting them for as long as you have an account.

If you are in a region that requires your consent before we can send marketing email — including the UK, the EU, and several other countries — we ask for that consent up front and send nothing until you give it.

6.What each app collects

Each app is different. This section is the specific, per-app detail — where an app says it collects nothing, that means it has no server to send anything to.

Vigilant

iOS · macOS · Windows

The only app in the portfolio with user accounts and a server. It handles sensitive information, so it has its own full-length policy that controls over this one.

Leaves your device
  • Account details — email address and password credentials
  • Subscription status and billing events (payment card details go to the payment processor, never to us)
  • Detection events, and blurred, text-redacted captures of flagged content
  • Urge log entries you choose to record
  • A reference photo of each person who shares the device, if you turn on viewer identification, plus the identification result attached to a detection
  • Device and diagnostic information
Stays on your device
  • Screen frames are analyzed as they are captured; raw frames are not stored as a browsing history
  • App settings, block lists, and the schedule of apps you have chosen to lock
  • Your urge history and the forecast built from it
  • Reference photos used for viewer identification, matched on the device
Permissions it asks for
  • Screen recording / broadcast to analyze what is on screen in real time and block sensitive content
  • Camera (optional) only if you enable viewer identification on a shared device, so an alert points to the right person rather than the household
  • Screen Time / app management to lock tempting apps ahead of a high-temptation window and to close an app when something is detected
  • Notifications to deliver alerts to you and to your accountability partner
Others involved
  • Your chosen accountability partner blurred, text-redacted captures and detection alerts — sent only to the person you nominate
  • Hosting, database, and notification providers process account and event data on our behalf under contract
  • Payment processor handles card details directly; we receive only subscription status

Because of what this app is for, the fact that someone uses it is itself sensitive. We never disclose that a person uses this app to anyone other than the accountability partner they chose, and we never use it as a targeting signal for marketing.

Untether

iOS · Android

Runs without an account. Your settings, timers, and streaks are written to your device and stay there.

Leaves your device

Nothing. This app has no account, no analytics, and sends no data to us.

Stays on your device
  • Session lengths, cooldown timers, and streaks
  • Lock schedules, parental restrictions, and your app passcode
  • Onboarding answers and content-blocking preferences
  • The signed-in web sessions and cookies of the social platforms you open, held in the app's own browser storage
  • Sensitive-content analysis — images and video frames in the feed are checked on your device as they load, and nothing about them is recorded or sent anywhere
Permissions it asks for
  • Notifications (optional) to tell you when a cooldown has ended or a scheduled window opens
Others involved
  • The social platforms you open in the app you are signing in to their real websites inside the app, so they receive whatever they normally would — your credentials go to them, not to us, and their own privacy policies apply to that activity
  • Payment processor (only if you donate) donations open the processor's own hosted checkout page; we receive whether a payment succeeded, never your card details

RecordMe

iOS

A local video tool. Recording, transcription, and editing all happen on your device — nothing is uploaded to us.

Leaves your device

Nothing. This app has no account, no analytics, and sends no data to us.

Stays on your device
  • Video and audio you record
  • Screen recordings captured while you react to another app
  • Transcripts generated from your recordings, used to cut pauses and build captions
  • Scripts you type into the teleprompter
Permissions it asks for
  • Camera to record video
  • Microphone to capture audio while recording
  • Screen recording to capture what is on screen while you record a reaction over another app; the recording is written to your device and never uploaded to us
  • Speech recognition to transcribe recordings — configured to run on-device, so the audio is not sent to a transcription server
  • Photo library (add only) to save finished videos to Photos; the app does not request permission to read your library

Apex

iOS

Needs your location to do its job. Position is processed on your device as you drive and is not sent to us or stored as a trip history on our servers.

Leaves your device

Nothing. This app has no account, no analytics, and sends no data to us.

Stays on your device
  • Your position and motion while a drive is active, used to compute corner speeds and G-force
  • Recent destinations you searched for
Permissions it asks for
  • Location (while in use) to place corner guidance on the road ahead of you; the app does not request background or always-on location
Others involved
  • Apple Maps map tiles, destination searches, and route planning are served by Apple, so those requests reach Apple under Apple's privacy policy

Pixel Dimension

iOS

Collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no network connections.

Leaves your device

Nothing. This app has no account, no analytics, and sends no data to us.

Stays on your device
  • The shapes and measurements in your current canvas
  • Any screenshot you import through the system picker, used only to measure against
Permissions it asks for
  • None images are chosen through Apple's secure picker, which does not require photo-library access

7.Who else sees your information

  • Service providers. Companies that run our hosting, databases, email delivery, crash reporting, and payments. They may only use your information to perform that service for us, under contract.
  • Apple. Purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive whether a purchase or subscription is active, not your payment details.
  • People you choose. Where an app sends information to someone on your behalf, it goes only to the person you nominated, and only while you have that feature turned on.
  • Legal and safety. If we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, or a threat to someone's safety.
  • A future owner. If the company or an app is sold or merges, information transfers with it. The buyer stays bound by this policy until you are told otherwise.

8.How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. Delete your account and we delete it, except where we must keep records for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. Data held only on your device is gone when you delete the app. If you unsubscribe from marketing we keep a minimal record of your address for the sole purpose of not emailing you again.

9.Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time. Depending on where you live — for example California, the UK, or the EU — you may also have the right to object to certain processing, to ask us to restrict it, and to complain to your data protection regulator.

To exercise any of these, email support@vigilantproject.com. We will not treat you differently for asking, and we will respond within the time your local law requires.

10.Children

Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information without verifiable parental consent. Where an app is used by a minor under a parent's or guardian's supervision, that adult controls the account. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

11.Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers, and we keep as much data on your device as we can — the safest data is the data we never receive. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12.Where your information is handled

We operate from the United States, and information we collect is processed there. If you use our apps from outside the US, you are sending your information to a country whose data protection laws may differ from your own.

13.Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you directly rather than relying on you noticing this page.
